Rev. Charles Gallagher, Chaplain
Fr. Charles Gallagher grew up in Hyattsville, MD. He went to parochial grade school and then to the Heights in Potomac for high school. He graduated from Fordham in the Bronx, and did most of his seminary at the Pontifical North American College in Rome. After his ordination in 2010, he served as assistant pastor at St. Peter’s on Capitol Hill for the summer before returning to Rome to complete his licentiate. In 2011 he became assistant pastor at St. Mary’s in Rockville and then pastor of Our Lady of the Wayside in St. Mary’s County. In addition to being Chaplain of GW Catholics, Fr. Charlie is also the pastor of Immaculate Conception Church in Shaw, DC, since July 2017.

Julie Cilano, Campus Minister
Julie is from the great state of Louisiana. Born and bred in New Orleans, she attended Catholic school and later attended Louisiana State University in Baton Rouge. Julie worked at the Catholic Student Center at LSU during her college years. After graduating from LSU in 2008, Julie worked at the Diocese of Baton Rouge in Youth and Young Adult Ministry for four years. During her time at the Diocese Julie worked on and obtained her master's degree in Pastoral Studies from Loyola University New Orleans.
From 2012 to 2014, Julie was the Director of Christian Formation and Youth Ministry at St. John the Baptist in the Diocese of Baton Rouge. In September 2014 she became the Campus Minister at Gorge Washington University. She loves being part of the GW Catholic Newman Center and is happy to spread the love of Christ through this ministry. Julie has been married for seven years to a wonderful man, Michael, and has a dog named Roux.

Rev. Andrew Wakefield, Assistant Chaplain
Fr. Andrew grew up in Ann Arbor, Michigan, attending Catholic schools for grade school and high school, and he graduated with a degree in history from Albion College. As a member of the Jesuit Volunteer Corps after college, he worked in area social service agencies in Washington, and he later graduated with his law degree and master’s degree in public policy from the University of Michigan (Go Blue!). After working as an attorney in Washington for a couple of years, Fr. Andrew entered the seminary for the Archdiocese of Washington and attended St. John Paul II Seminary and Theological College, graduating with his theological degrees from The Catholic University of America. Since his ordination to the priesthood in June 2017, he has served as the Parochial Vicar at Annunciation Church in Northwest Washington. He is thrilled to join the GW Catholic community this year as an Assistant Chaplain.
